Fruit tree picking times
When planning an orchard or buying fruit trees for your garden, it is a good idea to try and choose varieties which will ripen at different times, so that you can enjoy a supply of fresh fruit throughout the season. This table shows the approximate picking times for the fruit trees we supply, based on southern/eastern UK.
Please note that this information should only be treated as very approximate guide. Picking times can vary by 1-2 weeks from one year to the next, and different species or varieties can have good or bad seasons. Picking times will be later in more northerly or higher locations, whilst picking times for trees grown as fans / espaliers on south-facing walls could be a week earlier than free-standing trees. Some apple varieties also have the benefit of ripening over a longer period, so that you may be able to pick the tree several times over a couple of weeks.
